The tasting: A tour of France’s single-varietal wines
To really understand wine, there’s nothing quite like tasting ‘single-varietal’ wines – that is, wines made from a single grape variety, without any blending. We’ve selected six iconic wines for you to take a flavour tour of France:
The Reds: The crispness and red fruit notes of Gamay, set against the power and spicy notes (pepper and violet) of Syrah. (The sixth wine will be a surprise from our sommelier to test your new knowledge!)
White wines: The buttery notes of Chardonnay, the crispness of Sauvignon (or Chenin), and the floral richness of Roussanne (or Marsanne).
